    Time bar appearance on iPlayer

I'm not sure if there's a correct technical term for the little bar at the bottom of the screen, but does anyone else find that it pops up after about 20 seconds and again a couple of minutes later?
It doesn't happen with Netflix or Amazon, or non-BBC stations, for that matter.
Not the end of the world, but a bit annoying.

I've heard it referred to as 'news ticker' and 'rolling banner'.

We don't have that problem here; I think you're referring to the line and arrow progress bar that shows the elapsed programme time?

The actual news ticker/rolling banner that I do find annoying is the one at the bottom of the screen on the BBC News channel. It frequently proclaims "Breaking News" for something that's several hours old; that would have been a misuse of the term back in my Reuters days, but journalism ain't what it used to be.

Another annoyance, now that we're forced to use computers rather than real televisions, is the programme info banner that appears when the next programme is due to start, even though the current programme is running late and hasn't actually finished. And there is also the continuity announcer breaking into the end credits and speaking over the soundtrack, admittedly not always a disadvantage. I'm aware that I've dragged this away from iPlayer issues per se so I'll shut up.

        Yes: it's not a news ticker/rolling banner.
Must be a system glitch this end.
