    special section for late junction?

    Hi,

This evening I was using the search, and looking around to see if somebody had a question like mine, it's why doesn't Late Junction have its own special section, like, say, "Hear and Now"? Sorry if it's already been asked.

Also, I recognise this isn't exactly the right forum for this type of question, though I would label the question as being a "technicality" so it's technical ...in a way :-)

    Cheers.

If there was a strong call for one, it could be created - though probably in the World Music section which already has threads such as 'Verity' and 'FT on LJ'. That forum is already marked 'World Routes, World on 3, Late Junction' and you can discuss general issues or start special threads there.

But worth a sub-section of World Music? Cf A night at the Opera, Composer of the Week et al?

Sorry, I totally missed the subtitle on "World Music", skipped my eye completely! I understand about the "if there was a case". Fine.

I find LJ annoying - I'm afraid at that point in time, at the end of the day, I am lulled into a sense that it might be my kind of program (some melodic folk track, etc) - and then I realise that the broadcast chain hasn't failed, but its an intentional piece (let's call it music, as I suppose that's what is claimed for it) of electrical pulses / noises etc. I'm not against giving new music a chance, but it needs to be earlier in the day for me. Given that on most of the evenings when LJ isn't broadcast, its Jazz (another blank for me) I either go without radio late evening, or use my iPod and in-ear headphones as I settle down for the night....

Totally disagree. LJ refreshes, intrigues, is both fun and instructive, and all presented by very low key, undemonstrative presenters. My kind of programme.

Regardless of whether one enjoys the programme or not, I think the separate threads - Verity, FT, Waxy Maxy, MAK &c - serve adequately for programmes coming under the umbrella of World Music, already diverse enough to cover many types of music. Plus new threads can be started for specific programmes or subjects. Clicking on the World Music forum (instead of What's New?) will bring up all the recent thread titles.

Thanks ff for this - I'm away at the moment so not spending much time on the forum, but historically LJ has been on the World Music sub forum... It's also where the r3 presenters of Wo3 & LJ look from time to time (being Mary Ann Kennedy aka Oilrig and Max Reinhardt aka Oliver Postgate) so I'd encourage people with an interest in the programmes to post there.

LJ is the very model of a r3 programme
