    Deleting PMs

This must have been explained before but I can’t find any related thread.

How do I delete private messages in the inbox?

Go the right hand side of the box containing the message in question. Tick the box. Scroll down to find the 'Selected message' box. Click on it. A series of options appears. Delete is one of them. Click it. Then at the bottom of that same options is the box marked 'proceed'. Tick it and the pm message will disappear.

If you wish to delete a whole thread of messages, then tick the box on the right at the start of the thread eg on the word 'Sunday' when the bunch of messages started, if you tick that, then a whole block of messages goes yellow, go to the options, tick delete > proceed and hey presto, the whole box of messages is deleted.

    Hope that helps.

Some while back I increased the quota allowed to 500. But if you do want to keep all your messages, you should regularly download them as files to your computer and delete those on the forum website.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thank you. I couldn’t find the ‘selected message’ box. When I tried

        ff
In that case (500 quote), I am not in a hurry to tidy up my inbox but it’s good to know how to do it when I need it.

        Many thanks.

The title of the OP might be misconstrued - I was expecting a Thread about Boris Johnson.

Do I need to change my settings to have an increased number because the message I got just now is: Inbox contains 58 messages. You have 175 messages stored, of a total 200 allowed???

How many are in your "Sent" box?

Is it 200? I may have been mistaken about the 500 - I'll report back.

It's not really a problem, I regularly have a clear out, I was just querying. Edit, I think that's a total In and Out of 483, so does that add up with numbers left? I dunno, I'm hopeless with maths!!

Just checked. It is set at 200 for Registered Members and can only be changed by Administrators.

Supermoderators have 500 but that was because I was getting so many PMs and kept getting emails saying my box was full and "X" had been trying to PM me.

MrGG - find 14,000,000 voters to do your bidding at the next election.

You've only recently been given Moderator powers, I'm afraid you'll have to earn your Wings before being further elevated up the chain of command and a bigger Inbox!
