Treating marketing with a little suspicion is always wise but I don't think it's Apple's of which you need to be particularly wary. Samsung appear to spend a truly astonishing amount on marketing and advertising: Business Insider.

I have heard similar said before but such observations are invariably based on a vanishingly small sample size.
Where I work it's nothing but IT (unfortunately) and though company issued phones are simple Nokia phones or BlackBerries, and our corporate platform is Windows, almost everyone has a personal iPhone and/or iPad and anyone who has a choice uses a Mac.
It has been the case for a while that smaller companies have used Macs but it's now being seen in larger companies and a number of government departments too.
The servers are still all Linux though.

If you take a trip round broadcasting house or the BBC Media centre in White City
you will see that there are thousands of networked PC computers , on every desk
go into the studios where the actual content is created and edited and it's almost 100% mac machines

sadly (as Apple are NOT the retail branch of Amnesty International ) some of the marketing is true

(though iTunes, Garage band, iMovie etc stink .......... )

Apple don't need to spend money on advertising - they are past-masters at getting it free. Whenever they launch a new product it becomes front-page news - either reports from conferences or reports of their poor besotted customers queuing overnight to be the first to buy it. Is it because so many media folk use them?

So if they stink, why do people use them? Perhaps because they are taken in by the hype? Some aspects of Apple do resemble a cult.

But bear in mind that enlarged text means less characters along the line to view leading to scrolling left and right...left and right (I think..worth checking out..or maybe the lines wrap round and so it's not a problem).

              Possibly.

That (in addition to marketing budgets) may influence how they appear in films and on television; the first series of '24' was amusing where all the good guys used Macs and the bad guys, including the mysterious traitor, used PCs .

If it's the same sort of technology as smartphones, no, it doesn't wrap (at least, it doesn't on my phone). (rep[ly to RM, no. 35)

Based on my limited experience I wouldn't dream of doing massive amounts of writing or editing using a touch screen. You can get keyboards to fit though.

I know what you're saying but is that 'zoom' as opposed to 'enlarged text'? I don't know, TBH.

Oh yes, you're quite right, I was thinking of 'zoom'.
