Trouble with that view is that i need to get my customers up extra early, and presumably you would have to wake your students up at about 6 AM (by the sun).

We'll both need luck with that.
Good time to catch up with Schnittke on iplayer though.

It seems to work well in other countries (I think both Russia and Canada have six) ad I'm sure it would work as well north of the border.

Perhaps our Scottish friends would like to comment?

Double summer time was used during the Second World War and again from 1968 to 1971 but abandoned thereafter.
See my post #10434 in the Stormy Weather thread. If Scotland had its own time zone, I think it would mean the UK had the only north-south time zone on the planet.

DST was not used in 68-71. The clocks stayed forward permanently by one hour during that time.

Dreadful, innit? Now you'll know how the Scots felt when thatch foisted the (unwanted by Scotland) poll tax on Scotland a year or so before inflicting it on England and Wales.

I don't know if the means that you are being tongue in cheek, but if not then you are talking nonsense (imho). It's ultra-depressing getting up in the dark, let alone going to work, whereas going home in the dark to a bright, warm house is cheering. Round here summer mornings are light at about 4.00, which means I can't sleep unless I wear an eye mask.

I think the percentage of people working in agriculture is a good deal smaller than 10%

As for the time shown on forum posts - does it matter?

While it seems to come around quicker and quicker as years go by, it takes me longer and longer to get used to all that getting up and bedding down an hour earlier.

Thanks for the reminder, mercs The only drawback is that, as far as the forum clock is concerned, I've forgotten what it is I have to do

When Scotland goes independent after September you can have your own independent time!

Oh good. The clocks change tonight. Saves me the bother of readjusting my car clock which I failed to do last time so that my car was always an hour fast - or was it an hour slow?
Never mind, I always knew what time it was - or should that be I never knew what time it was? A reel is 6/8 and a jig is 4/4.

Changing the time by an hour? This is political correctness at its worst

Are you suggesting changing it by 30 mins or 45 minutes instead?

As long as it didn't go faster than the speed limit
