    Problems sending private messages.

I have recently received a couple of private messages from a contributor to the boards, but when I hit "reply" and send a message back to him, there is no trace of it having been sent in my sent box and I presume it has not gone. Can anyone help me?

scroll down to the very bottom

here you can tick copy to your inbox as well as a notification that it has been read

I believe you have to do these ticks with each missive sent

      MickyD,

scroll down until you see this -

      Miscellaneous Options
Request a read receipt for this message
Allows you to see when the message is read by its recipients

Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder.
      Automatically parse links in text
      Disable smilies in text

It is also worth checking whether you have reached your limit of 50 stored messages. I that is indeed the case, you will have to delete some from your inbox and/or sent box.

If you want to save a copy I think there is an option to tick whereby all Sent Messages are saved. Mine are certainly automatically saved. But you have to select it. Bryn, I think you usually get a warning message telling you your folder is full and you should delete some of your Inbox/Sent Messages.

Yes - under Settings > General Settings, you'll find the option to 'Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default'.

You do indeed tend to get a warning, frenchie, but I have managed to miss such warnings once or twice, hence my suggestion of checking.

I have a feeling it actually prevented me sending something out, but that would have been because I had the Save Sent Messages option selected, and sending it instructed the system to do something which it refused to do.

Anyway, the option for saving sent messages by default has been discovered ...

Thank you folks, for all the helpful advice. Of course, not being much of a technophile, I hadn't seen, let alone ticked, any of those boxes! It's so nice to have helpful souls around when you need them.
