    It’s difficult to assess the impact and reception of some suggestions without having a brief test. Thanks, ff, for doing this. I agree with what seems to be the majority view that the restored state is the preferable one.

    Most impressive along the way was ff nipping behind a screen to reappear immediately as Lars Porsenna, rather in the way that Milligan used to. What other personas lurk behind that implacable façade? I hope you don’t lose track of who you really are. Remember the Flanders and Swann song: ‘I suffer from amnesia, it comes over me in spells. Sometimes I’m the King of Armenia, at others I’m Orson Welles.’

        It also made me persevere with Photobucket, which I'd given up on once before!
        It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
