    Clocks / Forum Time

Er, I think this forum used to be located somewhere near Bristol. Has it moved over the weekend to Barcelona, Geneva, Prague or the like?

Is your setting correct? For me it says (foot of page) 15.10 - is this not right? I thought I'd changed all my clocks.

Correct ff. I think it may be Osborn's computer which is in Prague (technical IT terminology...).
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Ossie, there's a setting somewhere (help me, peeps) where you set it to, erm, is it called DST (detect summer time?) or something?

Yes, Under General Settings on your profile page, Date & Time Options, have you got this set, DST Correction Option, to Automatically detect DST settings?

If you read messages without logging then the time currently shows GMT+1. When logged in the time shown is GMT. Something needs fixing on the server.

I don't know why that should be. It's set permanently to GMT, with DST enabled when it is 'currently in effect' (which it currently isn't). That should apply to guests and members not logged in. Otherwise, members set the time at what they want from their Control Panel.

Yes, that's what's happening to me - my settings are as you advised - if I log in the 'What's New' shows correct times - if I don't log in then 'What's New' times are an hour ahead.

So logged in members know you're in Bristol but visitors see +1 hr & think you're in Prague or Barcelona!

I've altered it manually by overriding the DST setting, but that should happen automatically when we revert to GMT. Protest again when the clocks go forward and I'll change it back

Possibly the server is looking at USA "Daylight Saving Time" which ends next weekend.

That's likely. I'll try reverting the setting next week.

Looks like the server is not picking up changes in USA clocks either - still showing GMT + 1 when not logged in.

Yes, I checked it this morning and saw it hadn't reverted to GMT. I'll reset it again manually. In fact I'll do it now. Immediately.

Warning that the clock may not be showing the correct time in the morning. If it isn't, I shall again have to investigate what to do.

(It is this weekend, isn't it?)

I'd put in a call to Caliban.

I think he has people for this sort of thing.
