Board's image uploader does not work properly

A small 50k JPEG image cannot be uploaded and put into a post, despite my using (as per instructions) the "Reply to Thread" button.

How can a JPEG be an "invalid file"? There is nothing corrupt in the image, nor is there anything wrong with my computer or the steps I've taken.

Same happened with me a few weeks ago. I gave up! Now I think about it, how many images do we see on here (apart from avatars)?

That's because the uploading of images directly to the board is disabled. In order to post your own images you must first upload them to an image hosting site like Photobucket (the one I use) or ImageShack. To include images already on the web, click on the image icon (third button from the right immediately above the Reply pane and paste in the url of the image. For Photobucket images, just copy the image's IMG code directly into your message. Avatars and Profile pictures can be uploaded via your settings page.

I've tried this recently but all I get is an Invalid URL message. Yet the same URL plugged into a browser displays the image.

There does seem to be a glitch. Key in the code [IMG][/IMG] on either side of the URL

I'll investigate. There hasn't been an upgrade lately, so I don't know why this is occurring.

If I copy your link and attempt to insert it via the image icon then I get Invalid URL. Bizarre. Wonder if it's browser or OS related?

Hmmmm, let's try it:

Nope. Using the Image button I'm now getting a different dialogue box from the usual one. I have to choose a tab Upload from Computer or From URL. But both have orangy blobs indicating it doesn't matter which one I choose as neither is possible...

Currently using Firefox and OSX 10.6.8

I wouldn't have thought it was the OS - will try on the PC with ... IE & Vista . Back in half an hour

Orangey blob is just the Close image, still there with change of computer and OS. I will seek help.

Well, that worked. I wonder why the box has changed ... not an improvement. I hope it doesn't mean people can upload directly to the site now or we'll be paying out hundreds of pounds to upgrade

it means that it works when you link to an image on the web i believe ff, so no uploading to site but i'd check!
