Is it possible to copy photos onto forum posts?

I know how to put an image and even a photo into an avatar and I also know how to copy across images into threads. Is it possible though to incorporate photos in threads? I have one or two garden and countryside ones that I could include on "Stormy Weather" etc.

    Lat

Uploading images directly on to the forum is not encouraged because they take up a lot of our space. What you can do is register for an account with one of the image-sharing sites, like flickr or photobucket, upload your pictures there and then post the link in the usual way by using the link button and copying the address.

I use photobucket - it's very easy! (If you copy the address from photobucket it comes with [IMG] and [/ IMG] already in it, so you just use the link button, not the image button).
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

frenchfrank - Thank you. I might well try to do that then. There was also someone on the forum who had used Troovi and was in hospital for a while. I can't remember who it was now but I hope he is ok. I assume that using photos for the Avatar is alright?
As for pictures, overall I think we use them sparingly on WM but we have been slipping a bit. Where there are a lot of words, I like to use a picture or two just to break them up a bit but maybe I should put the joke ones more on links - Lat.

Yes, please! I don't check on images - in fact I thought I'd disabled uploads (except avatars). Obviously, I hadn't! All images should be links to other sites. Of course, if you use photobucket for your own pictures, you can crop and size the images on your desktop before you upload them.

Maybe this makes it possible to quote music on posts?
          I'll try.

              Here!

Alps, on the righthand side of that page under 'Share this photo' you'll see the item 'IMG code'. That's the address you copy to make it appear in your post.

[Just one caution about this, TWIMC: you can make computer images of music(al notation) or scores which you own, but publishing them on this forum could be a breach of copyright - other than perhaps a few bars for illustrative purposes.

Absolutely. I recall asking about "Chopsticks" on the BBC Messageboard, and quoting an alternative tune that is often so misnamed (The Flea Waltz) attempting to notate it letters for identification. Even Chopsticks as we know it is in copyright until 2019, despite being a variant of the theme upon which Borodin, Rimski-Korsakov, Ciu & Liadov, composed a set of variations.

"Happy Birthday"'s copyright expires in 2015, I think.
