    Uploading Pics?

I've tried uploading a small pic to a thread (tried as Gif, jpeg etc) from my computer but it always says "Invalid file". Baffled!

I always have to go via Imgur, which usually works well enough, Lordy.

use the (?) BBC forum code when you have uploaded the piccie.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

You can't load a picture directly, but by opening a Photobucket account (or similar), you can copy photos from there. Once set up, the process is very simple:

Upload any pictures you want to post to the Library. Then click on the icon of the picture you want to put on the forum. To the right will appear some boxes - double click on the "IMG" box and the word "copied" appears.
Return to the forum and paste the link there.

I am trying to post a picture. Total failure.

Could you explain your advice in more detail?

I think I have successfully clicked on the IMG box, so the word "copied" appeared.

But I have no idea how to paste the link into the forum. Everything I have tried has failed.

Try this - Banana Dumptruck -

Took me a few minutes - maybe something changed since last time I did this.

Use imgur as the upload/storage site. Copy the Direct Link from that site. Then use the image icon in the WYSIWYG entry editor - it's the one immediately to the left of the thing which looks a bit like a piece of film. Insert the copied link using that.
Assuming the image is jpeg, make sure that the .jpg extension is added at the end (it may be already, but maybe not).

In my example it didn't work at first - as I copied the image link from the imgur site - thus http://imgur.com/6klBp compared with the direct link http://i.imgur.com/6klBp.jpg The image link didn't work today - maybe there's been reorganisation on the imgur site. Notice the 'i.' prepended to the file url, so it is different.

Using that image icon to put the URL in, make sure that you are putting the URL in - From URL (not From Computer), and also untick the box " Retrieve remote file and reference locally"
