Anyone like a Schenker analysis of BWV 749? (Just so I stop feeling so OLD.)

Thanks, ferney. One more for full screen.

It's strange because with a 20-inch screen, with full screen I find the lines too long for easy reading. There's an optimal length, which is (they say) 50-60 characters per line. Mine, with about two-thirds width browser window is already 90 characters. With full screen the text would either be enormous or the lines would be extremely long.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It has "House Rules", "Cookies", "Proms", "Useful Links" - how is that a "Bookmark"?
I didn't think that ff's original question related specifically to viewing this forum - as there are sidebars for other applications and browsers. However, in the context of this forum I generally do not have the sidebar open - though it has been useful in the past for acceesing parts of the site which are otherwise not so easy to find. Since some parts are now "no go" areas, I have had less reason to open the sidebar. I just hope I can remember how to do it if the need should ever arise again.

I try to maximise useful panels on my display, and if possible to have multiple applications which makes some tasks much easier. There is a big difference between using a laptop and using a large screen desktop in this respect.

Having checked the front page of this forum again, I can firstly say that at present I do still know how to turn on the sidebar, and to turn it off again. However, since I now usually access the posts by looking for New Posts I hardly ever look at the front page nowadays. That might be useful to ff and the developers.

Main Mac: Safari, not full screen; sidebar with Favorites (can someone take a screenshot to show fhg?).
iPad: Safari, as it defaults to fill screen and rotate etc.

Looks like I'm a bit atypical.
          Always nice to be different!
          :-)

PS! Forum sidebar visible too, as I occasionally use it to navigate, e.g., to Schedules.

I've just worked it out - that double arrow thingy pointing left by "House Rules" - click on it, no sidebar, double right arrow appears for turning it back on! I too generally go straight to "What's New", unless I'm looking for something that has been dormant for a while.

But internet generally - full (20") screen (Firefox, PC) with tabs for favourtites etc. along the top.

It's where you get the drinks in the interval, especially if the crush bar is too full!

As it says at the top of the homepage: "Please read the House Rules (link in the l-h sidebar, click on the double chevron to the left of this message if you can't see it)." Clearly using obscure terminology …

So a sidebar is nothing to do with this thread , then?

                  What's a crush bar?

If I know what I think I know I'm talking about, you click on the two chevrons pointing towards the "This is NOT the official messageboard" etc notice.

Yes - this is what I do, too. I only ever look up "Classical Forum", "Platform 3" etc when I'm starting a new Thread.

It's the panel at the side of Radio64's posts, used when he's talking about Clemmie.

                              ah, thanks.

I thought it might be part of the goal posts, in Holland.

                                Yes.

Actually, see my message 13, it's about the new software being tested for the FoR3 website, NOT THE FORUM - as I stated

As far as the forum goes, as I'm nosey about what goes on on most of the separate boards, I use the homepage to access individual boards if I can see there have been recent posts.
