How do you view?

Not specially to do with the forum, but I'd like to know how people view the internet, in particular:

Do you have your browser full screen or slightly less (so that you can shift it around the screen)?

And do you keep a bookmarks sidebar open most of the time?

I use Firefox and if one creates a new tab most of the "favourites" are offered anyway (including For3 Forums of course!)

On the PC with a 24" monitor I use Firefox (NOT full screen), no sidebar but I have a row of the main bookmarks (and bookmark folders) along the top of the screen.

On my iPad I use it "as is" - full screen.

On most iMacs (21.5 inch, 24 inch, 27 inch) I would probably not have the browser full screen. On my MacBook Pro and similar machines I would have the browser full screen, and similarly on an iPad - on mine which is an early model I've probably not got any choice for that. My preference with large screens is to have multiple applications visible so that switching between them is slightly easier. FWIW the latest large screen iMacs (and the previous large screen versions) are great. However, for other reasons - perhaps just laziness - I often work on my MacBook Pro (laptop) so the display tends to fill the screen, either in explicit full screen mode (without the application details and other application related menus at the top) or set up to fill the screen but with the application menus at the top.

I don't normally have any side bar, though if there's a large screen display available, and if I need the information in a side bar, I'll turn that on. On a laptop or other smaller screen device I would not have a side bar as it would take up too much space for insufficient good reasons.

Last two particularly interesting. We're currently testing the new website's 'responsive' software (not the forum - just the FoR3 site). To me it seems as if the 'responsive' software is indeed responding to the needs of hand held devices, but they don't seem to be altogether satisfactory for people like me who don't use iPad or smartphone EVER to access the internet.

Interesting that so few (only me?) have the permanent bookmarks sidebar open. I know I ought to reorganise them (at a quick test there are over 400 bookmarked sites) but I change from one to another too often to have to click on a special menu each time.

I am self-taught on most things computing, so I don't know what most features are called - I don't recall ever having to give the sidebar on the Forum Homepage a name before (I'd've probably called it "that red panel on the left" - but the requirement has never arisen). I'd occasionally idly wondered why it had Sergeants' "stripes" attached, but until a few minutes ago, I had no idea that clicking on these chevons got rid of the panel-thingy - and now that I do know, I can't imagine why I would want to!

So, I'm probably not the ideal target audience for the set question, but, fwiw, I view the Forum on full screen (I think - there's a blue bit of my screen at the bottom with various logos of the various programmes I've currently got running: Google, Sibelius, Removable Disk, off switch - and three rows of stuff at the top: Bookmarks, internet address searcher, Tabs with the windows I've got open).

This is basically how I have everything except the i-Player, where I get rid of the surroundings when I'm watching a TV programme.

Hold on! Why is it called a "Bookmarks Sidebar"? The one to which I thought you were referring was a red panel running down the left side of the page you get when you click on "Forum" (next to "What's New" at the top of this page). It has "House Rules", "Cookies", "Proms", "Useful Links" - how is that a "Bookmark"?
