Are you sure? I've never done it before and it seems very final ... but happy to do so if you are sure you don't want to keep them .

I am confused. The messages toolbar at the top shows that I have 8 messages, 3 in the inbox. It’s those 3 messages that I was asking about. They have been read, responded to, but continue to show up on the inbox on the toolbar. You had offered, so I accepted, but now you seem hesitant, so that’s fine, please consider my request withdrawn. It’s not important

This does seem to happen. My solution is to send the messages in question to TRASH. This will reduce the number in your still to read box. Then re-transfer the messages back to Inbox. A laborious procedure, but I have found it works!
