    Recovering drafts, token has expired?

Very grateful for help on locating drafts that I have been told are "Auto-saved" but the reply screen appears to have no mechanism for recovering them

and... two attempts to submit a reply have been met with " can't do.. token expired" or similar. Thanks in advance!

I often find that trying to reply to the same post that I already attempted does eventually cause the auto recovery to pick up most of the text - sometimes even a day or two later. It's not immediate, sometimes one has to wait a minute or two to see if the "saved" text can be rescued. You should get a message across the bottom of the input panel saying something like "Restore Saved Text". It's in red on my machines.

Not sure what you mean by 'token expired'. My experience is much the same as Dave's.

Thankyou for the suggestions, maybe I've been too impatient but I can't remember seeing the " Restore....." notice but I'll give it a go next time. I suspect the "token has expired" occurred because I inadvertently had the forum open on two tabs and one had been open for ages so when I closed both and restarted the problem disappeared.

Don't leave it too long before trying again. I can't remember whether it is browser independent, as I haven't explicitly tested, but I think if you start a reply in one browser, get it going for long enough that it will be auto saved, and then don't complete the process, that it might just work if you go back to the reply some while later using a different browser. Can't guarantee that though. It may even work across devices and OSs - see the comment re iPads below. It certainly works if you stick with one browser, and sometimes for at least a day. I have been surprised on occasions to rediscover an earlier attempt at posting - though I think one may have to reply specifically to the same post as one did on day one.

Re impatence - a minute or two to get the original post set up, and then a similar period when trying to recover the post should be sufficient.

I often had to rely on this when using an iPad, as it would frequently crash during posting - and it was a real pain before I discovered that the text could often be recovered.

          Does all that make sense?

Yes, it makes sense but the crucial word is you "discover" whereas the most useful procedure would be for the auto-saved draft to be available by clicking on screen which it seems is not the case for IE. I'll try it on Mozilla later.

Another thing! I have the Notification sign permanently highlighted in red but there are no unread messages.
