I logged out at 17.37 having taken note of Don's 17.36 posting. In my unlogged state I read new posts, Don was still showing 17.36. I am now logged in again, so no discrepancy here.

Anyone know that song "Let's do the Time Warp" ?

On your forum General Settings, have you got it set to 'Automatically Detect DST ( Daylight Savings Time) Settings'?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

        Don,

Can you click on "Forum Actions" - General Settings

Scroll down and you will see the "Date and Time Options"

Check whether you have set the "DST Correction Option" to Automatic.

I think this will solve your problem.

            Doh! (RTFM)

My personal settings were showing as GMT, not GMT+1. I changed it manually, wondering why no-one else had mentioned having to do it themselves. Then I saw that the next field was showing 'no automatic switching for daylight changes' or some such. I've now changed this to 'automatic', and hope to be all set for the next millennium.

Well with digital TV and radio, it's always the wrong time anyway.

You're just trying to comfort me in my embarrassment. I thank you for that.

                          Don,

I believe the correct settings are:

Time Zone: GMT (Western Europe Time, London, Lisbon), not GMT+1
DST Correction Option: Automatically detect DST settings

(DST = Daylight Saving Time, i.e. the BST correction to GMT)

I thought of that after I sent it.

                              An afterthought.

If my problems were all to do with my local settings, what magic did ff carry out prior to #11 which pleased all the others?

The main setting for the forum was GMT (+ automatic DST), but there was a separate control for setting DST for 'guests' which I hadn't bothered with. So I bothered with it.
