A double pleasure : to hear again from Jayne - how much we have missed her insightful comments on live relays and to hear despite the alarming headline that Caliban lives on ! I think those that choose to retain anonymous (like me ) because of privacy fears have a double responsibility to remain polite, measured and empathetic.

Really. Perhaps you could PM me and let me know who I am. I'm still trying to work that out myself.

You may or may not know who I am, but who's my canine companion?

I was on about about stalking, not hounding.......
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

Glad to see jlw reappear, I’ve greatly missed her. I never understood why Nick chose the evil Caliban as his avatar. Surely he is temperamentally more of a Prospero

              Ditto.

As for names - sometimes it's struck me as a bit false when someone on here calls me 'Joseph', particularly if they use their real name and if they know my real name! But obviously I'm responsible for that ... anyway, I quite like The Trial, obviously, even though in that book it's actually 'Josef'...

Not being someone of any consequence it matters little whether I use my real name or not ... but if anyone wants to add me on facebook, PM me.

Thanks for the tip-off, but I could hardly endure to the end of a whole movement of these unbelievably mannered interpretations, and had to dash back to Schiff on his Brodmann to regain sanity. (IMHO of course.)

I'm one of those, I guess, but surely it's easier to say 'Thanks for the recommendation, Joseph' than 'Thanks for the recommendation, Real Name', or others will/may get very confused!

I think I prefer nom de plumes. It is like radio, the pictures are better.

Please offer a definition of that well-known cliché of music reviewing, "mannered".....?

Perhaps the man 'eard the performance and didn't like it.

                                A decidedly Dodg(son)y word, indeed:

“When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

’The question is,’ said Alice, ‘whether you can make words mean so many different things.’

’The question is,’ said Humpty Dumpty, ‘which is to be master — that’s all.”
