    Greetings... good to be back

I have been away from England for years, and though of course one can now listen to any radio anywhere, I've only just returned to Radio Three, keeping it on for much of the day as I did in the late 70s at university, studying language and literature but getting a free and comprehensive classical music education from the channel.

I am not the dashing young blade that I was then - and R3 is different too - but am approaching my new retired existence and the modern face of national and international culture in as positive a spirit as possible. Greetings to all, from West Mercia.

      What else to do?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
