simply my favourite classical pianist, especially the 1981 recording of the Goldberg Variations. Certainly my desert island disc.

Good morning, rR. An auspicious day to be joining in - welcome (I see you've been busy pitching in already!)

Hello, and glad to see the R3 messageboard has found new life. Found you all by following a random link, and thought "hang on, I recognise these folk!" Delighted to renew the acquaintance.

One suggestion - someone earlier on suggested toning down the colour scheme for something less, er, confrontational. I'd support the idea ...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Welcome, Stockpicker! Yes, our opening coincided with the closure of the R3 boards. I have requested links on the Radio 3 website to publicise our existence but, sadly, this was fruitless

Colour? This is 'french frank contra mundum'! There is a possibility of toning the colour down but two problems:

                        1. Not all browsers/computers display the colour in the same way and the colour looks fiercer in some browsers than others

                        2. and more to the point, the various bits of colouring have to be reset individually. I'll discuss this with Andrew, but - wait for it, folks - we're due another upgrade next Friday (oh, no! the 13th! ) so first things first. There may be a way round it but I don't think there is. As it is, there's one page which has the vestiges of the default blue and I haven't discovered how to alter it!

It's good to see new members joining us and I do hope they stay and contribute.

However, I see that our latest member is Barbirollian and wonder if French Frank would agree that this is too close to our already existing member Barbirollians. Most of us have, I think, got to recognise an individual members style, likes and dislikes etc and I can see the potential for confusion here.

                          Any thoughts, FF?

Thank you, FF. I know that when I joined the old BBC boards in 2008 every name I tried was taken (and none of which I've ever seen by the way) so I know how difficult it is to get it right.
