Hello from the sunny Peak District (well, for a few minutes at least).
After a while browsing, I can't see a suitable place to ask why Radio 3 thinks it has to have jingles. Anyone like to point me in the right direction?

Hello, all!
I'm a recent convert to classical - opera in particular - and look forward to picking the brains of the R3 sages gathered here.
It has been a blast trying out as many different kinds of opera as possible over the past year or so. I have enjoyed almost everything, from Cavalli to Turnage, but have yet to fall in love with Wagner or Britten.

Thanks, Pabmusic. It's good to be here.
A question: I'm off to Handel's Rinaldo in a few weeks (huzzah!). Which part of the forum should I look/post in for CD recommendations, so that I can do a little advance preparation?

but have yet to fall in love with Wagner (THAT'S OK) or Britten (THAT'S NOT OK).
We have a neglected British composer thread if you fancy having a look.

A Night At the Opera (which you've already found) is probably as good as any. Using a fairly explicit thread title helps (and welcome). It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Ockeghem's Razor
Greetings. I began listening to what is now R3 in the mid 60s and it taught me almost all I know about music. I have enjoyed browsing through some threads on this forum and look forward to doing more of the same.

Hello, Mr Razor, and welcome to the discussions, musical or not as you wish. (Often wondered how to pronounce Ockeghem - Ock'hem, I presume)

Ockeghem's Razor
Thank you for the welcome. There seem to be a great many variations on the spelling of Ockeghem so the pronunciation is probably anyone's guess!
