    Hello, M_S,

PeterKatin, King Christian II and Simon have certainly made their appearances already ...

      Hello all,

An infrequent visitor to the original message boards on the BBC R3 site, I only discovered they'd closed it yesterday when I tried to find it to ask about an Josef Krips recording. I'm sure you can all imagine my sigh of relief when I found this place, many thanks to all that made it possible.

Any suggestions as to the best place to ask about the Krips recording?

Hello, Basil :). I think the best place to ask is the CD Review forum (doesn't matter if the programme hasn't covered it). That's where people gather who are specially interested in recordings, new and old.

I see our numbers growing daily. I wonder if anyone knows how many people were active members of the BBC Messageboard just before it closed?

..and had a somewhat unsettling thought this am, is this new forum an example of Dave's 'Big Society' in action, er ahem, nah couldn't be ....

I notice the forum now has over 500 members. And what a pleasure to welcome no. 502: Jonathan Swain. Welcome, Jonathan, and long may your enthusiasm and knowledge pervade these boards.

Thank you Martin…. in the case of my first post here more ignorant enthusiasm - than knowledge ….You live and learn! ….And one of the reasons for being a member here is to learn (plenty of knowledge hereabouts!).

You and me both, Jonners. I should have known that a bit of Jacques Loussier noodling wouldn't satisfy a real jazzman. But I tried

We look forward with great excitement to the unfurling of your erudition in the CD Review forum!

Good to have the staff on board, for sure. ( 50% of the worldly Late Evening people have already joined the rig ... )

Welcome indeed, Jonathan. Good to have another Havergal Brian enthusiast on board. Let's hope one of your producers remembers that they have the 3-8 January 1983 Radio 3 production of The Tigers tucked away somewhere, and decide it would be a good idea to recycle it past the capstan again, either on a Thursday afternoon or a the opening item in a TtN programme in the run-up to the third night of the Proms. ;)

Hi Bryn...The Capstans, these days, aren’t quite as ‘full strength’ as they used to be in R3 studios, but I’m sure one could be found somewhere, IA cleaned and air-dusted down. Re The Tigers, will have a word in the right quarters. Perhaps that should be Wright - he’s a Brian enthusiast too.

                          All best to all

Oh Gosh, Jonathan Swain! I often go through the night with him, as a listener. Best programme on R3 I think. I realise he doesn't put it together and it's all EU but some really interesting stuff on it always.
