I agree - my view is that people were given an opportunity and they blew it.

There is currently a new thread in P&CA about the rights and wrongs - given the news story today - of HS2.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

As I remarked on another thread, there is obviously a high degree of co-dependency, (not to mention passive/aggressive tendencies), on the P&CA threads, in the circumstances I think french frank has done the right thing although it's a terrible shame for those posters who contributed thoughtful and interesting views and wished to debate important topics

Of course, they still can - and one hopes in a less co-dependent passive/aggressive atmos!

can the mods provide a " non co dependent passive /aggressive" smiley please?

or perhaps an " I'll get my coat" smiley !

This is the closest I can get:

But if threads & new posts don't appear on the 'New posts' page, nor on the 'forums' page, how do they know if there is a discussion they want to contribute to? Perhaps people starting a thread should post an alert on Platform 3?

I think this is probably why folk aren't there
If ones normal pattern is to click on "What's new" or "New Posts" (which seem to have the same function ?) then going to the forum then opening the P&CA board etc really is a bit of a faff ........

Not with the link on the left hand side-bar. If you feel like a political debate, it's one click away. If you don't, no worries.

But they are - there's a new thread started half 11 today with 16 posts. Go for it 2Gongs, it's not much effort to get there, if you want to.

Probably the best way to be passive-aggressive in a PC way is to lie down on the floor and let everybody walk all over you.

They find out if there's anything new on the main forum by clicking on What's New? on the homepage; and (as I think Caliban was saying) they find out if there's anything new in P&CA by clicking on the dedicated link in the homepage sidebar. One click for both from the homepage. If people can't be bothered to do that, they can't be very interested - as indeed most members won't be.

I think "most members" are not terribly interested in a lot of things that are discussed here. I hardly ever look at The Choir, The Early Music Show, Hear and Now, Jazz, or World Music, for example, and I am sure that there are many forums that the same few members regularly contribute to and others barely glance at. But I don't see that as a reason to marginalise them, as has happened with P+CA.
