To me at least ds this will always be the place to be....Facebook is very much IMHO a "needs must"

      ds

It's not a substitute for this forum. Anyway, it might all have gone bust. They keep saying they don't think I'm a real person and ask me to take a security check:

except the radio button doesn't work. So I can't get in to Facebook at all - not even the Radio 3 page.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I had no idea Facebook had anything to do with real people.

But the radio button didn't work - even if I had been able to choose the one choice on offer. And on the one occasion when it let me past that there weren't any photos of individuals but rather distant photos of 'groups'of varying sorts. So it appears I failed.

An ominous message when I tried to access the page this morning: "This page may have been removed".

                  What have you done FF?

A general Facebook point: for any members who are reluctant to post mugshots on Facebook, there is no obligation for it to be a true likeness - IOW, you can use any old image as your avatar, rather like here in fact.

Well, my whole account is blocked and it appears that I have, not only to know every friend by sight, but to recognise every photograph of them on their Facebook page (not their avatars) - and identify five different people correctly. There's no way I can ever do that. This is because they suspect I'm not a real person or operating the account illegally. So that's that... I won't even receive requests from people who want to 'friend' me, presumably because the email address set up for the Facebook account is also blocked. Any Facebook veterans who can suggest what happened? (I filled in a special form that someone suggested, explaining, but just got a reply saying the page had not been 'disabled' so I couldn't use that form - so I presume the page is still there - I'm just not allowed to access it).

Have just seen your message, SV

FF, your best bet at reactivating your account (without setting up a new account, although this might be preferable in the long run if you want to set up as a "group") is to submit this form to Facebook.

That might do it! I was in the process of turning my personal timeline into a Page (and had just downloaded the archive, as they advised and received their acknowledgement of my 'new page' which didn't appear because I hadn't set it up>

ff seems to be confirming that life is too short to bother with Facebook.

I come to believe that life is too short for a lot of things. Different people have different criteria for determining what they will do with their life.

Anyway, I've filled the form in, in great detail. I told them what actually happened but was unclear about 'what I expected to happen' Thumbs up to them if they get the picture rapidly - but I fear they won't.

Considering the amount of tosh that regularly appears on FB and remains untouched the more suspicious elements of my imagination tells me that somebody complained and "reported" your page. FB are not, in my experience, pro-active enough to do anything unless it is brought to their attention. People on FB do not have to have avatars, fanciful or not.
