This one has been a bit of a brute, but Andrew is just clocking off after just over two hours. So ... a ripple of applause for him . And for Mark for doing the back-up and standing by.

If anything doesn't seem to be working properly, post a note about it here, please.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I am directed to 'New Posts' when I just want the general Forum and have twice had to sign in because I looked at members user pages, which used to show whether they were posting.

I imagine these are teething troubles ??

Thanks for the information - will investigate.

No problems that I can see. Well done!

Saly - I've fixed the first problem - you should now go to the main 'Forum' page on entry.

Could you specify what you did to look at the member pages so I can try to reproduce the problem exactly?

I think I looked at amateur 51 to see if he was up and posting. I think I was then redirected to sign in and told I had been trespassing or something. I then looked at my FRIEND Mahlerei's page and my message to you appeared on that!!! It was soon after 5am so sorry if I'm a little vague, it was there though. I'll try to behave, please sir. best wishes, I expect it will be sorted as always.

I think your own message appeared on Mahlerei's page because a new feature shows a member's latest messages and those of all their friends. (This feature might prove to be a nuisance and might be removed.)

I can't reproduce the logging-out problem. Can you indicate exactly how you got to amateur 51's page?

Sorry Andrew, can't remember exactly but I expect I went through 'Community'. Re your answer, it's a bit odd to see every message 'loud and clear' on friend's pages. Yes, it is odd IMHO.

Thanks for replying anyway, you must have had a night of it with all this. Saly

                        should I see "'); var sidebar_align = 'left'; var content_container_margin = parseInt('210px'); var sidebar_width = parseInt('190px'); //--> " at top of page on 1st access or again on 1st login

page loads are still extremely slow compared with other sites - most pages 'hang' at end beforetransfer indicated as complete - firefox bot with javascript disabled

Saly - if it happens again please let me know and will try to fix.

Yes, this upgrade has been ever so slightly awkward!

No, you shouldn't! Sounds as if it's a slow page loading issue. Will check.

Response was very sluggish earlier this morning (other sites were fine for me) and I was toying with reporting such, but a few minutes ago it started responding instantly. Something has woken up!
