    The Proms Calendar

I'm putting this here so that it doesn't get so easily buried among all the other Proms threads (and can be more conveniently 'bumped' as a reminder).

Many thanks to bluestateprommer who has, for the second year running, entered all the concert details into the forum calendar. The most useful feature is that each concert will be outlined (with a link) in the What's Going On panel at the foot of the homepage one week in advance of the performance. You can browse the headline details in the calendar (calendar link appears at the top of most pages, but not the What's New view) at any time. From the headlines you can click through to the programme details.

So, a choice: Andrew's listings for a detailed one-page view of all concerts and for a printable version; bsp's calendar for the week-ahead reminder and clickable links to separate concerts.

And coming soon: the Concerts 2012 sub-forum. Eine Alpensinfonie has undertaken to start the thread for each concert in standard fashion (as DracoM does each week for Choral Evensong).

Repeated many thanks to all mentioned from a ff!
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

To ff, many thanks, but to give credit where credit is due, you entered a fair chunk of the concerts into last year's calendar, so it was far from being all me. However, for 2012, I definitely take the blame ;) .

As some may have noticed already, I did omit the estimated running times of the works, for those concerned about such things. In addition, where I can, I've noted the works which will be receiving first performances at The Proms (a few of them to my surprise, actually), just now, a very quick and far from complete run-through. I'm sure, however, that just by the laws of statistics, I've made some mistakes, which no doubt various Forum members will catch in due course. I've also not systematically gone through the Proms Archive on situations like Alice Coote's recital or the National Youth Jazz Orchestra concert, i.e. concerts where there are lots of shorter works.

For Petrushka, it's not so much that one has time, but more that OCD takes over :) . Trust me, entering everything was not all fun and games . But at least hopefully it all turns out to be useful. Maybe entering the information is residual from me surviving graduate school once upon a time.
