    What time is it?

I'm told the forum clock is still on GMT, but it isn't for me.

Can anyone remember why this happened for some people last time? (There was a thread about it, I think).

On your profile page, under General Settings, Date & Time Options, do you have it set to 'Automatically detect DST settings'?

At the foot of the the page it's showing: All times are GMT +1. The time now is 09:08.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

as I said (at great length ) last time, it depends if I'm logged in or out - it's correct when in, incorrect when out

EDIT - I am on "automatic DST"

I appear to have started this with a PM to FF. I've tested mercia's hypothesis, and it's true that when logged out the clock reverts to GMT.

I saw a last post on a thread this morning timed at 0730, when it was a few minutes after 0830, and assumed something was wrong. I can't remember whether I was logged in at the time, but it seems I've started a hare unnecessarily.

I think I remember this, but it ought to be the same regardless of whether you're logged in or out. Shouldn't it?

Add: I think I've solved that one. I turned off the general DST detection in the winter because there was an anomaly of some sort. Was it that US DST isn't synchronised with ours (or vice versa, if one prefers)?

Registered members can always set their time options to whatever they want via their General Settings.

I'm sure it should (but isn't currently for me though I can cope ). My memory of last time, or even the time before, was that during the general discussion on the topic, someone pressed a magic button and the logged-in and logged-out times were united

EDIT - and I see that that magic thing has happened (at least for me) just now and all is well

Yep - see my Add. Thanks for the input - which jogged my memory.

There is a remote possibility that an upgrade altered the setting but this should be fine for everyone until the next changeover, when there may be a discrepancy for a week until we catch up with the US.

kb - thanks for mentioning it, otherwise it would have remained wrong for the next 6 months!

Thanks, FF. As I recall, US DST differs from European Summer Time by a week or so at either end. (So I suppose that will be the week someone posts about it again.)

For anyone who is interested: US DST (Daylight Savings Time) began at 2 AM Sunday, March 11th; clocks go back to Standard Time at 2 AM Sunday, November 4th. We are now back to the 5 hour difference between the UK and US Eastern Time (add an hour each for time zones further west...Central, Mountain, Pacific Times.)
