Today is the first anniversary - so happy birthday everyone - the day when the floodgates were opened.

So what happened on Tuesday? We had a mammoth 462 posts, second only to one day just before Christmas last year, when we almost tipped 500. The number of members actually logged in has never been higher - we hit a record 182 last week.

    Onwards and upwards.

Just an initial announcement too of an upgrade planned (provisionally) for 2 December. This will be carried out UK time, about 10pm, so perhaps you could make alternative arrangements for your late evening company

    Details will be confirmed soon.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

A Very Happy First Birthday to the Board! Congratulations, and a very big thank you, French Frank, for all your hard work in making it such a great place to exchange news and views. Dunno where we'd have been without you.

            My very best wishes

Well done FF, as I have said many times this forum has been an education for me.

Here's to the next 10 years and a big thankyou to Frenchie for all her hard work and toleration! Thanks also to my fellow MB's for all the interesting and lively discussions and keeping me musically sane.

PS hope to upload a small sample of the Sonata next week.

                          ff

I agree with all the sentiments expressed, and add my own thanks for your very hard work in such a good cause.

I seem to remember posting something from Haydn’s Creation at the start so perhaps an heavenly musical ending for the successful year is appropriate:

The last part of Bach's mass in B minor sung by the Berliner Philharmoniker and conducted by Otto Klemperer.

(Despite what the poster says I think it sounds like the 1968 New Philharmonia Orchestra under Klemperer).

The ending of the old BBC boards seemed at the time to be one of those awfully sad moments when you have to bid goodbye to one dearly loved. But Auntie Beeb reckoned without French Frank and the general will of those who inhabit the forum.

Very many thanks to FF for all the hard work and best wishes to all for making it a great place to be.

Huge thanks to FF and anyone involved in the founding and design of this oasis!

I've had a truly terrible year, with big blows to both health and finances, and after finishing with business and emails (often very trying ones!) for the day I often come here, it always cheers me up to read, post, and make those awful apologies for jokes I indulge myself with.

Cheers to everyone, and all your wit, enthusiasm, knowledge and love!
