    Members and Senior members

Just out of interest- why are some members flagged up as "senior members", whilst others are merely members? Is this age related?

Or is there some bizarre initiation ceremony that one has to undergo to achieve seniority?

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

Senior status is achieved if you reach 100

Senior Membership shows that one is a member of a secret left wing cabal, of course. Either that of it's based on how long you have been registered as a board user, or something like that.

In case you didn't follow Paul's link (as maybe Bryn didn't), it will come automatically with your 100th post, together with a telegram from ff. As with most of my rewards in life, it's not for quality, but good attendance.

Don, I was trying to avoid emoticons in that particular message. I has hoped it might be fairly obvious where my tongue was placed. I, you may have noticed, had a 33 message start when these boards re-emerged on the 24 November this year. As it happened i did not follow Paul's link. I was playing around with my own message at the time he posted. That brings me to a facility included in the message board software used by r3ok.com which might be useful here. If, when you hit the 'post' button on r3ok, anther message has been posted while you were writing it, an alert pops up warning you of the fact and allowing you to check the content of such new messages before proceeding. A very useful bell/whistle, in my view. Since, in my experience, the Firefox spell-checker does not function here while typing one's message, but does kick in if one opts to "Go Advanced", I tend to use the latter route if typing over a line or two. Perhaps Frances or one of the other code-heads here can explain why that Firefox spell-checker does not function during the initial typing of a message here?

This is an experiment to see if the Firefox spell checker works. It does! (My double 's' in 'this' and 'spellchecker' as one word were both highlighted!)
I am using Quick Reply and can offer no explanation about why it works for me and not others. (I am on Firefox 3.6.12)

I am using the same version of Firefox, VodkaDilc. I have only noticed the failure of the spell-check to kick in during the initial typing of a message here in the past few days. I am on the second line of text now and have included a few intentional 'typos' (all of which I have since gone back to correct) but none were flagged up. I have not disabled the spell-check, by the way. Most curious.

Can't help with the spell-check issue. As for Member and Senior Member, I'm thinking of altering them to Citizen and Senior Citizen... Since I abolished Junior Member back under the previous regime, I imagine I could also abolish Senior Member too. I've checked - there are no special privileges or permissions set up for Senior Members, other than the deepest respect of the Members .

Bryn: A mistery (and yes, that was highlighted.) I'm afraid I am the last person to ask for an explanation of anything technical. I'm sure you'll solve it!

testing for the spell checker in Firefox - just installed a dictionary - a necessary step! [Tools/Options/General : Check my spelling as I type tick box]

As I mentioned, it works fine for me in "Go Advanced" mode here. It's only in the initial window that it fails to function on this Laptop's installation.

Senior Citizen could be for those who have, well, been around FoR3 a long time. I see, from my profile link, I am member number 11, which surprises me as I'm sure there were a goodly big number of members when I joined in 2007 or before.

FF is no 2. I wonder who is No. 6 ?

Trawling back through the records, JW, I see we had what was intended to be a limited dry run to test the software on 4 March 2007 and you were right in there as one of the first on that day. I think I'm missing your No 6 reference, but the literal answer is that No 6 was ... why, Miss Milly herself .., beating Anna by a photo finish.

Frenchie, don't you ever upgrade me to a Senior Citizen!! Could I be a Deaconess (if, as you had previously suggested we go down the Liturgical route) and no jokes about Loose Canons.

And here I thought that the Theologically Challenged only resided on BBC Religion board?
