    Server problem

Apologies for what I think was a brief unexpected problem with the server a short while ago which prevented access to the forum.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It was for quite a long time three quarters of an hour here) and the message (if you want it) was: The server www.for3.org at Protected_Area requires a username and password.
Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection). This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Okay, okay, no need to rub it in I was working off my laptop and only discovered when I came back to the desktop for something (1st action - look at News, 2nd action - check forum).

I had this message too. Thought it was some sort of scam so deleted it.

Phew - what a relief. For a while, I thought I might never again be able to waste time trying to sort out the clues on the 'AA' thread!

There was a news item yesterday that BT's Broadband was down for some of yesterday.... perhaps playing a role somewhere here? For information.

Thanks for that - thought I'd been thrown out of the forum and the locks had been changed!
