What is the significance of the symbol - like a little padlock? - which is placed against certain threads, eg the Maria Malibran thread in Performance?

I think it indicates that it's been closed - probably as a result of somebody breaking the rules, e.g. by posting personal insults.

If the Maria Malibran discussion is closed, it's a scandal and should be rectified at once.

False alarm, I think. The thread was not closed. I thought I might have closed it in error but I had gone first to look at the Announcements board to see what was going onIt isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. It looked like a padlock when I checked after reading Message #1 - there's currently a padlock tagging a closed thread devoted to Reiner Torheit. Sorry to add to any confusion!
