                As in nonage and dotage?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Apologies (again) - there was no time to alert members of a brief interruption of service to the forum last night. We had to be rapidly moved on to a new server, and there was a break while our hosts were managing this. (Mark was getting hundreds of error messages per minute and had to take to the lifeboats)

It was probably my fault - I was in the process of posting a message with the words 'barbed wire' and 'blood' in it.

Yep, the censors stepped in pretty sharply - there were just soooooo many complaints about what you were about to post.

Not quite that old. The woman on the left almost looks modern, but everything else - old cars, bower hats, men mostly in suits - though one without a hat, shops without neon lights and TV displays, and horse drawn carts ......

What's the date of that photo?

The Gamages photo dates from 'Ca. 1920s' apparently.
I'm pleased to report that my controversial message has appeared unredacted as part of the ongoing discussion of Essential Classics - a programme that has of course been known to trigger (oh dear!...) strong reactions.
