That's my point - few proper concerts (which are presumably the mainstay of this slot) will ever be as short as International Opera Awards.
New schedule changes 2018

Dangerously off -topic, but.....
...........if Tom Service is to remain the voice that fronts the on-air trail for this new scheduling, then.....oh dear!
It really is wearily laughable: R3's unerring capacity to choose presenters with [ahem] low ratings [from this Forum] to bubble and enthuse about the upcoming is really unenviable. Almost as if they check out who is a least liked 'voice' and use it! Think KD, TS.......?

Ian Skelly presents a weekly round-up of highlights from concerts and festivals around Europe
In theory, the programme’s duration can be flexible but it looks all a terrible mess.

The Opera Awards are what Radio Times has as Live in Concert (with EML in the hour between that and Unclassified, as SCB said).
There doesn't seem to be long enough for, say, a 2-hour Do3, a Live in Concert longer than an hour, EML and whatever 6-parter follows.
As regards Tom Service, I appreciate his great knowledge when dealing with contemporary music. However when dealing with lighter matters, I don't appreciate his heavy handed humour and a feeling I'm being lectured.

If this is going to be the "template", then it's the concert that's curtailed, not EML.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Originally posted by french frank View PostYes, confirmed (?) that EML will be at 10.30 on the 15th, with the Opera Awards replacing the concert that week. I'd guess the concert will be an hour's worth of 'edited highlights' in following weeks.
Hurray!!
