That is, "purely", even though closure was contemplated because, quote, "FoR3 wouldn't really be needing a website" in the future?
In contrast, presumably, with it needing a website and even a forum to this date?

Would it just cover costs "going forward" or also seek to recuperate past costs incurred "purely for the benefit of forum members"?

Because currently we have a situation in which forum members have not been graciously thanked for their positive contributions to FoR3 or otherwise over seven years; they have been told that aggressive and abusive posts were unhelpful to FoR3 while simultaneously having other contributions cherry picked for submissions; this while they were being advised that - you - you have nothing to do with FoR3 (aggressive? abusive? - if at all, from which direction, at least passively?). Further, they have been advised that "the business side" will be sorted out with no reference whatsoever to future charges or what they would cover; there has been no wider consultation on whether forum members would prefer the direction agreed from on high; and the sort of stonewalling/concealment re reasonable questions witnessed today is about as diffident and ungrateful as it would be possible to be.Last edited by Lat-Literal; 25-09-17, 20:35.

The other forum that I often frequent charges £5 PA for full access, or allows 3 posts per day for a free subscription. The paid version allows extra features such as PMs, editing posts etc. It also carries advertising.......and has many more active posters.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.
I am not a number, I am a free man.

I'm getting very confused about where this discussion is leading. There are no costs for using this forum, the software for which was simply added on to our existing website which was part of an internet package including email addresses. We have no annual costs for the forum since we bought a lifetime licence at the outset, and there is no intention to upgrade to the latest version which I believe would be an additional cost.
If anyone is interested in the cost of our internet package: last time (last October) it was $181 for one year, which Mark and I shared between us.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

shudder!!!!
I'd rather pay a modest subscription than be plagued with such stuff.
