Come and join the Early Music Show Board and see it for yourself.

An old point, but i do notice it every day. I think, in fact i'm quite sure, the red colour scheme looks a little cheap and garish. Perfect for christmas of course, but i think we deserve something a little more sober, distinguished, and exhibiting a little more class. Or are we trying to fit in with the 'new' R3 output?

Well, their website's 'new look' some months back did seem to have imitated us with its red bars everywhere .
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Hopefully despite all our efforts you will find lots to like in Radio 3 for years to come.

Since you have mentioned Resonance FM, I would alert those interested to the fact that Sarah Walker (yes the essential one) will be playing piano duets with composer Hugh Shrapnel on that very radio station this very afternoon, from 14:00 to 14:30, http://resonancefm.com/schedule .

I wouldn't miss the current affairs and politics threads were they to disappear or become deprecated, if only because I don't have time to read most of them. I would miss the other 'culture' threads in Platform 3 though, as I think these align with the general focus of the board, and I appreciate the span of knowledge members have on such threads.

I don't have any serious intention of making changes to Platform 3. It's just, on the other hand, that there are times when 'off-topic' (as regards Radio 3) threads do come to dominate the What's New? list. The aim of the forum is to provide, first, a place to discuss Radio 3 and R3-type topics, bouquets as well as brickbats . It would be very disappointing to think that the new Radio 3 had seen off most of its former listeners, and I don't really think that can be the case.

I find this a very odd comment, mercia, I have to say. The esteem or otherwise in which an individual is held here exercises absolutely no influence on my listening. This forum has only added to my listening, I think, with the helpful signposts to programmes I might otherwise have missed, and ditto recorded performances on CD (as oft expressed here, it can be an expensive place to browse!!). The only thing that puts me off listening to R3 is the inanity of some of the content of the station itself at certain times of day, weekday mornings above all.
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Exactly! I still listen to Sean Fafferty no matter what others here say about him! I think I probably also sometimes listen to programmes I wouldn't normally because of comment on the MB (such as the EMS)
