Can we cut the politics from this thread ?
More worryingly, where will it stop classical music confined to 50% of Proms ? The Last Night with a first half of pop music ?
There has also been deliberate puff re some Proms e.g the Wilson slick night and very little promotion of others such as the BBCNOW/Bancroft fascinating historically and musically Schoenberg/Zemlinsky Prom .

At one point Georgia Mann referred to the “hype “ around the orchestra perhaos unaware that the phrase has the association of “unwarranted overestimation “ about it. How very true.
Why did JW signal to the strings with that vibrato movement on his cuff before the Barber? If if was to encourage finger waggling it certainly succeeded as the vibrato at the climax was almost nausea inducing.
