Interestingly I watched the Sinfonia Of London concert last night and again thought it somewhat disappointing. Billy the Kid was so bland and colourless .

At one point Georgia Mann referred to the “hype “ around the orchestra perhaos unaware that the phrase has the association of “unwarranted overestimation “ about it. How very true.

Why did JW signal to the strings with that vibrato movement on his cuff before the Barber? If if was to encourage finger waggling it certainly succeeded as the vibrato at the climax was almost nausea inducing.

He wants more and more non-classical music at the Proms, probably to make it more “relevant” and to justify his hire to clueless BBC bosses. How sad.

The BBC hype the Proms.more than ever but it can NEVER be called the 'greatest classical music festival ' again . Actually by Jackson's own admittance it is something he can't deny .

Becoming the "greatest music festival" would at least be more accurate (sort of) given the current direction of travel, if one takes "greatest" to simply be the number of music(non specific) events to be put on over an extended period?

That would be tautologically tantamount to declaring, "The greatest BBC in the world - there is no other"!
