    Advance notice of temporary closure

Arrangements are being made by Andrew and Mark to close the forum for a new backup and a minor update. This will probably happen on Tuesday at some time after 10pm. Confirmation probably on Tuesday.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

A lot of people have already seen this but I'm just bumping it to catch a few more. Details to follow. If the forum is closed there will, as usual, be a notice explaining why.

I take this opportunity to thank Andrew and Mark for their work. This forum is a 'great thing' (in the Thomas Hardy sense, along with sweet cider, etc)

Let's celebrate the fact that there are still wonderful people around who are prepared to give of their time to take care of things of worth in this increasingly untrustworthy world!

We will be going offline shortly (at about 10pm) for 10 to 20 minutes to carry out the backup.

The latest is that after an heroic 2-hour session by Andrew and Mark (all thanks) the attempted backup last night had to be called off. If I understand the understandable bit, the changeover from Futurequest to Pair has caused unaccustomed problems which haven't yet been solved. But are being worked on . Another attempt will be made, possibly this week.

Customer Services apologises for the short notice of the shutdown last night but given only a few minutes notice I was temporarily unavailable - and Andrew gave the necessary confirmation to reassure that the forum had not permanently disappeared into the blue. More later - thanks for your patience.

You've been listening to Sean Rafferty, haven't you?
