I searched for "Tilbury" and it was a few 'hits' down the results. However, when trying to access the post itself, in order to reply to it, only posts in that thread posted on or after 19th May were accessible. I have sent Mandryka a PM, since I am unable to reply on Forum, as intended.

Yes, I think I'm there. The immediate answer may be that the Search facility is even worse than it used to be; but more helpful might be how you can defeat it by finding what you're looking for. Just getting lunch so someone may get there before me.

Have now eaten first course but thought I might have a poached nectarine after cheese. Back about 2 o'clock.

      Back to work

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

          As far as I know:

Interesting: it takes me to a post on 08/04/23, on page 1326, several pages BEFORE the post in question (page 1336), when my settings are set to view posts with the latest at the bottom. I can actually find the post in question and reply to it. With settings set to view latest at the top I get sent to page 34 of 34 (I think the total is slightly wrong!), dated 17/05/23 (19:58). Where to start unravelling this one? Going out for a walk .......

Not working as it should but:

Advanced Search Keyword Tilbury Username Mandryka Sources (if you know it) Talking About Music.

That will find Mandryka's post. Click on Go to Post, but then an additional stage. Click again on Search (this is the old Search Thread link) for Tilbury. Nine times out of ten that got me to straight to Mandryka's post in its position on the thread - hence with a Reply button with Reply or Quote. The tenth time it offered me a post by gurnemanz, but I checked the page number (no 2) and clicked back to page 1.

Andrew may be able to simplify the procedure

Thanks, Andrew. These things are sent to try us. Ironically, when I started today, posts had somehow been reset to earliest first, so I changed it back to latest first, which is what I prefer. It did not occur to me that the ordering of posts might have an impact such as this on search results.

Using latest first seems to produce some strange results when selecting posts indicated in searches. I'll try to get to the bottom of it.

Not just the searches. If you set it to newest at the top, when you click to reply to a post, the post window appears at the bottom of the page rather than underneath the post you're replying to, and it stays at the bottom after posting until you refresh the page. Then your post goes up to the top, but you're automatically scrolled down to the bottom again.

Behaviour in the Write something box is still odd for me on my iPad.

Carriage return does not default to capital letter mode to start the new word/sentence.
Paste (e.g., a link copied from the Times app) does not always work. (The Times app is being updated, but the link I copied pasted ok into a new Mail message as a test.)

Any idea if these problems with what can be typed here might just be iOS related?

??? I never noticed it did that. Is that a usual feature in other programs?

I find copy/paste works as usual (not iPad though): MacBook and iMac. Not sure what pasting from an app involves.

                            I'll keep experimenting.

                              I tried it here
                              but it doesn't
                              happen.
                              even after a full stop.

I found this: "first character of new line automatically upper case since updating MS Word"

[I still have Word for Mac 16.16.27 on my computer so I haven't ever encountered this phenomenon. vB5 behind the times already?]]
