A programme ranging from Sibelius, Grieg and Britten to a world premiere by Ukrainian Bohdana Frolyak opened the Proms with conductor Dalia Stasevska engaged and outgoing.

"No that's not what I was referring to - that's editing a quote. I'm talking about including a link to eg an article, which now goes into a large brightly coloured "look at me" box, instead of just being a highlighted bit of text as previously. An example."
In this case you just had to make sure you'd chosen https under protocol.
PS I found this partially answered in the vB forum - for people who wanted to be able to post a thumbnail. It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Highlight the text in your post that you want to link e.g. An example
Click on the Link icon (hover to identify it)
Check whether your link is http or https (it's set to http - change to https in protocol if necessary)
Paste in your url
Preview what you've done.
I think that's right. I'll be corrected if wrong Is this what you meant?Last edited by french frank; 24-07-23, 10:33.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. Re posting links, thanks for the reply FF, I'll write out the instructions to put on my noticeboard and hope that it will reasonably soon become unnecessary to refer to it...

Can I ask what the black tick next to this thread/topic (but no others) signifies?
It's to the immediate left of the Statistics column.
Also (though it's of little consequence) we now don't see the whereabouts of a contributor, or the number of posts.
Curiously, I was able to change my default blank avatar to a picture selected from my photo library on my iPad (the south transept of York Minster), but when I took another picture (of a small painting I have of a masked chap looking a little like a Pulcinella) and selected that instead it was deemed to have far too many pixels, and I have no idea how to change that!

Not sure why the quote box isn't working either (must go and check something). Solved.
