With this nice weather people should be out doing the gard'nin' not lisnin' to music ...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Thanks to technology it is now possible to do both - tough luck if someone else's music choices aren't yours and in-ear options are not chosen.
Which reminds me, many years ago the chap who rented the allotment next to mine liked to listen to the radio while he was working and had made a little stand to put his wireless on. A combination of having defective hearing(damaged at work) and not bothering to move the radio as he worked on different parts of the plot meant that I had little choice but to hear a great deal of local radio and assorted 'easy listening'.

I admit I'm the Odd One Out here . I find the mass of humanity's inclination - or need - to listen to music virtually all the time (because they can) ... weeeeird. Walk along the street and most people are either wearing headphones or AirPods/earbuds (some are admittedly chatting on their phones). A smaller, but still significant, number are no more than walking zombies. No wonder people don't mind the current 'tune in/tune out' Radio 3 programming.
