If I have correcetly understood you, the answer is to edit the link as I have done above. I wish Forumites would do this more often as we sometimes have huge quotes with a one-line 'reply'. (Even if I have misunderstood you, Oddie, it's a point I've long wanted to make!)

No that's not what I was referring to - that's editing a quote. I'm talking about including a link to eg an article, which now goes into a large brightly coloured "look at me" box, instead of just being a highlighted bit of text as previously. An example.
A programme ranging from Sibelius, Grieg and Britten to a world premiere by Ukrainian Bohdana Frolyak opened the Proms with conductor Dalia Stasevska engaged and outgoing.

In this case you just had to make sure you'd chosen https under protocol.

PS I found this partially answered in the vB forum - for people who wanted to be able to post a thumbnail.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

How does one incorporate an image link into a comment, as against a new message?

I don't know that I'd ever tried to do that. But I will see if anyone has ever asked the question (and got an answer).

Could you elaborate please? What do I need to do differently from what I do currently, based on what worked on the old forum, which is highlight, CtrlC then Ctrl V, to add the link to the text.

Ah, I understand what you're doing. The system for linking text is pretty much as before, but for the benefit of others: As I write this reply, above the reply window is a row of icons, with Font to the left. Six boxes on to the right, left of the two quote marks, there are five tiny icons, ending with a smiley. The other four are used for inserting links/unlinks, images and videos. So:

Highlight the text in your post that you want to link e.g. An example
Click on the Link icon (hover to identify it)
Check whether your link is http or https (it's set to http - change to https in protocol if necessary)
                Paste in your url
                Preview what you've done.

I think that's right. I'll be corrected if wrong Is this what you meant?

And I've just noticed: if you can't see any of the small icons, click on the A,top right of the pale blue band.

Wow! It's complicated! Anyone else getting bemused by all the techno-babble? I don't envy you guys trying to sort it all out. But well-done. What dedication. I've learn't something though; the simple way on a Mac to increase font size.

All is not in vain! Can I say here, perhaps, that we've been very touched by the patience and tolerance of forumites as we all try to cope with these changes

It works both ways FF. The patience of you peeps as we come up with all our glitches and hope you can solve them is also very much appreciated.
Re posting links, thanks for the reply FF, I'll write out the instructions to put on my noticeboard and hope that it will reasonably soon become unnecessary to refer to it...

Can I ask what the black tick next to this thread/topic (but no others) signifies?
It's to the immediate left of the Statistics column.

Also (though it's of little consequence) we now don't see the whereabouts of a contributor, or the number of posts.

Curiously, I was able to change my default blank avatar to a picture selected from my photo library on my iPad (the south transept of York Minster), but when I took another picture (of a small painting I have of a masked chap looking a little like a Pulcinella) and selected that instead it was deemed to have far too many pixels, and I have no idea how to change that!

"This topic has been answered" apparently. It appears in a pale yellow box just below the Anomalies thread title. Not sure why it doesn't appear on all the threads that have had a reply posted, ie have been answered?

Not sure why the quote box isn't working either (must go and check something). Solved.

I assumed it was just me If you hover over it, it seems to correspond with the "This topic has been answered" note at the top of the thread. Why it's there, ISIHAC.

One of those 'I feel very tired' moments. If you click on Posts rather than Latest Activity you get the post numbers (top right), but the quid pro quo is that you land back at the OP. Not sure about location.

Do you have any way of reducing the size before you try to upload it? There is a limit of 80px x 80, but I thought the system resized it automatically. Perhaps it was just too large for that.
