I've noticed that recently (since the closure?) if I look at 'What's new?' on my phone, I no longer get page numbers of threads as I do on the computer.

This means that unless the last poster has a very short name, I have no way of going to the last post on the thread.

Is there a way round this?

        A question for Andrew when he reappears! I don't think we've bothered a lot about being smartphone-friendly ... (?)
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I've been here all the time - just a bit quiet!

I'm not aware that any of the changes should have affected smartphone displays. As I haven't a smartphone, I can't check this, unfortunately. I'll investigate as far as I can tomorrow. There might have to be a bit of trial and error

I tend to use a Sony Xperia Z when away from hame. I find that being able to post a message on this forum is very much hit and miss. All too often the "Post Quick Reply" button merely flashes but the message is not posted. This evening I just got error reports stating that Chrome (the Android version of which I use on the Xperia) could not connect with FoR3.

And - even stranger - when I do manage to get to the last post on the thread, the previous posts are arranged in a curious sort of tree diagram.

No problems viewing the Forum on my own Sony Xperia but tend to avoid posting on it as it is very fiddly and, as Bryn says, hit and miss.

                  What phone are you using?

Thanks. I'm not sure what software the various phones use. Maybe some compatibility problem. Not sure whether we can manually set the view so that we get that kind of display.

I'm not sure I can write this without revealing myself to be hopelessly addicted to messageboards, but the new version of ProBoards has a specially adapted version for mobile phones that works even on mine.

I'm wondering if something has changed your view to 'Threaded' instead of Oldest/Newest first? I tried to switch to that and got the dreaded Mac "spinning wheel of death" so I'm not quite sure what it looks like. I have it on Oldest first.

Ooops, no, I've changed it to threaded. I'd better switch it back again.

I've had a look in the Admin Control Panel, and there don't appear to be any relevant settings. I notice that VBulletin offer a package to make the forum mobile-friendly, but it costs!

I'll try to dig a bit deeper later this evening.

I've found a default mobile style, which I've just enabled.

Presumably now, somewhere on the 'General Settings' menu shown on a smartphone (obtained via the 'Forum Actions' tab at the top of the screen, just below the banner) there will be a style selector. If so, try 'Default Mobile Style', and see what happens: at the moment the graphics are in standard VB blue. This can be changed later.
