Finally caught up with this concert . His struggle to the podium was obvious from the BBC Sounds relay as the music started much later than Ian Skelly expected . The very slow opening was odd indeed but Anne Sophie Mutter was on fabulous form and good to hear her striving less for effect than she was in her later recordings of this concerto and particularly the Beethoven.
