Radio 3 and 4 really are the last bastions of Reithian culture of information, education and entertainment but they are struggling to maintain the first two in the pursuit of the mind-numbing latter.
Yes, the supermarket check out's "Have a nice day" - a sort of translation into words of the "pip" from the cash register. I always reply "And you have a nice life".

I used to work in an office where it was obligatory to say 'good morning' to everyone every day, and 'have a nice weekend' to everyone at close of play every Friday. The blanket uniformity of all this made it seem so insincere as to be absurd, but anyone who didn't take part would be ostracised like 'the man who..' in a Bateman cartoon .

Funnily enough in my office it was “any one fancy making some coffee? at opening and “any one fancy a pint ? “ at closing. (And not just on Fridays )

For me, it’s the irritation that every piece of music is used as a link to a Proms concert or artist! Yes, we KNOW the Proms are on. We don’t need reminded of it every 10 minutes!

That's something I always found tacky - choosing the music in order to promote something else, not just the Proms but sometimes the evening concert too.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

It's a shame that it does indeed smack too much of promotion: if it was toned down to be more 'If you like this, you might like....' it just might be more acceptable.

Just wish to add my voice - I loath trailers and its one of the key reasons what Radio 3 is no longer my 'go to' station (which will be either Radio Swiss Classic or WCRB) I don't like the feel of Radio 3 anymore - it's full of over-gushing, self trumpet blowing, repetitive and irritating wankery. The latest virus to spread through all the programmes is the 'tell us what you think' bit - it's not there because they give a sh** - its there to tick a box. Sorry about the language.

This 'contact us...' 'we love to hear from you,,,' 'the number to text...' etc. has been wished on BBC radio presenters since they realised they were losing listeners to the 'social media' generation. 'Woman's Hour ' is peppered with it throughout the programme. '84844 izzanummat'tex' . Anita Rani says it so often and so quickly it has lost all meaning, like the mantra of some forgotten religion

Many good classical playlist stations on the internet but Radio Swiss Classic isn't my choice. It's very bitty, playing short snippets and isolated movements.

Wide choice of music, minimal interventions by presenters, and almost NO promos at all.
It's a Finnish station. I do not speak Finnish!!

I agree that Radio Swiss Classic far from perfect - but it's useful when you want a bit of (mostly uninterrupted) music for morning or late evening listening.
I tried Radio 3 this morning -sure enough it hadn't been on 5 mins when there comes that horrible pause after a piece of music and you know that a trailer is coming next.......( I turned off)

I always liken these explosions of peak musical moments for promotional purposes to the impossibility of experiencing orgasm without everything leading up to it. In common with sales promotions in general you are offered the glimpse of a morsel of desirability without the lead-up, which you have to "work" towards.

The endless Proms propaganda from Radio 3 has been really oppressive this year.
Soon we'll have frequent announcements about the 'Christmas carol competition'.
