"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

I would imagine the dual approach (i.e. TV visuals and radio sound) is more complex now with digital/satellite/cable TV and DAB radio."I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. On looking at the iPlayer, I see that only the Juja Wang/Makela Rachmaninov concert expires soon - this weekend. Not sure what the Mahler 2 above refers to - Rattle's Mahler 9th this year is "Available for 11 months".

The dual approach is completely unworkable now as the different 'live' broadcasts can often be several seconds apart, especially when you add additional delays for people using cable or satellite services. For example, if you watch a cricket match on Sky and listen to the radio commentary, you can experience the radio commentators praising a ball that has been hit for six before the ball has even been bowled on the TV broadcast!Last edited by Lordgeous; 10-09-23, 21:38.

Watching Unmissable Moments - which I mostly missed from being away - is endng with a strange segue-mashup of Mahler 9, Tchaikowsky 5 and Sibelius 2*...! It's in a way watchable, but violence is being done to som of the music.

That disappeared from the schedule....but as one of my least favourite presenters was also supposed to be in that, I'm not that bothered.Last edited by Lordgeous; 10-09-23, 22:45.
