Possibly a reference to last year's Mahler 2 with Rattle, which might then have been nearing its one year deadline?

I would imagine the dual approach (i.e. TV visuals and radio sound) is more complex now with digital/satellite/cable TV and DAB radio.

The dual approach is completely unworkable now as the different 'live' broadcasts can often be several seconds apart, especially when you add additional delays for people using cable or satellite services. For example, if you watch a cricket match on Sky and listen to the radio commentary, you can experience the radio commentators praising a ball that has been hit for six before the ball has even been bowled on the TV broadcast!

That’s funny cos the last time I looked at the Mahler 9 it seemed to be expiring in thirty days. Maybe I was looking at Mahler 2 (on those thumbnails) with exactly the same forces. The consequence was I ended up watching it twice (as well as the Mahler 2 ) ! As you say the Yuja Wang Rach is definitely expiring soon.

I only watch free-to-air channels and I guess I would switch radio tuner from Didgi to FM. Having said that, TV audio is pretty good these days; I feed the TV line out (or didgi out in another room) to a reasonable Denon amp powering ATC SM10 loudspeakers.

Yes exactly, a must, but I don’t think cameras were present, nor were they for Aurora’s Beethoven 5 last year. The Berlioz Symphony on television was a classic, but maybe it’s to do with ‘rights’ that gets in the way?

Watching Unmissable Moments - which I mostly missed from being away - is endng with a strange segue-mashup of Mahler 9, Tchaikowsky 5 and Sibelius 2*...! It's in a way watchable, but violence is being done to som of the music.
                *Edit - sorry, Finlandia

Shame they didn't televise The Aurora Orchestra Rite of Spring.

O God. Wasn't it awful? Horrendous presentation put me off from the start. Also, wasn't there supposed to be a programme on BBC4 about Holst and RVW and English Music? That disappeared from the schedule....but as one of my least favourite presenters was also supposed to be in that, I'm not that bothered.

Yea. Presentation - ugh! Is there NO-ONE at the BBC who....? Obviously not. It seems everything is aimed at the lowest possible denominator! The preceding re-rum of "Andre Preview" at the BBC, though dated of course was less wince-making.

During the televised broadcast, did anyone else notice the Beeb's translation of the Choral symphony's words,' ... musß ein lieber Vater wohnen' translated as
'... there must swell a loving Father.'

                          Poorly enunciated "must dwell"?

Just an amusing typo, I don't suppose anyone bothered to check.

Didn't we have that one a while back?

The supplanted Holst/RVW documentary wasn't that bad actually, presenter notwithstanding. Given time, I'll check and see if it exists on youtube.
