Light and darkness battle it out in this tempestuous programme from Royal Northern Sinfonia and Principal Conductor Dinis Sousa ...

Quite enjoying this but my word the interval feature felt interminable.
Good perf of the Mozart D minor

Solid, fine Prom from RNS, KB and DS, pretty straightforward, no-nonsense, no-fuss, no-muss. Interesting that Missy Mazzoli's Sinfonia has gotten a second Proms performance relatively soon its 2017 Proms premiere at the RAH.

In terms of audience behavior, it was noticeable that the Sage Gateshead audience didn't applaud between the movement of Mozart 20 and Brahms 2. I'm behind on RAH Proms this season so far, but from what I've heard of those other Proms so far, applause between movements has been the norm.

BTW, from Twitter (granted that I feel icky posting a link to a Tweet, given the awful human being who now owns it), here's a Tweet about the 'front rail' of the Sage Gateshead 'Arena' for promming:

I noticed that too; lots of whooping as the conductor/soloist came on, but rapt attention during the music.
We know how to behave up north.

Alas, yes, I agree about the interval.
It was good to hear this pianist's approach to Mozart on a Steinway. An attractive light touch, and using the carrying power to project the different strands/counterpoints. I enjoyed the slow movement much more than usual!
