    Quiet coach means “fractionally less noisy but equally subject to constant intercom calls “ like those on station stops , the entire bill of fare at the trolley (why? Utterly pointless as it comes to you these days and there’s nothing you can do about it ) and “ see it , say it , sorted .”

        It’s the tone of that ladies voice that grates as well. Not to mention the slight upspeak on station names like Liskeard - as though that station’s presence on the line comes as a blinding shock . On First Great Western incidentally I could swear that one prerecorded announcer is Andrew MacGregor.

          Couldn't agree more! I also wince every time I hear the following solecism from her: "Due to a short platform doors in coaches…will not open". But then I'm obviously a pedant as well as a stuffed shirt.
