I had never heard those arrangements of the Etudes Tablleaux before . I enjoyed them but not at all sure they were an imporvement on the original .

Good to hear Coleridge-Taylor's lovely concerto in concert - very sensitively and charmingly played,

Must get a recording of the violin concerto. Any recommendations?

Enjoying it, was expecting all the concerts to be on bbc four but apparently not. This thread promoted me to check the schedules. Good to have the forum back.

Tonight's soliost has recorded it with Chineke but I do not have that or Tazza's version . I would definitely prefer Lorraine McAslan's recordiing to the Marwood on Hyperion.

BBC Sounds offers the highest audio quality available from the Beeb, better than HD TV, FM or DAB, all by a considerable degree.

Prompted me to try download bbc sounds to my ipad but is too old, listening via the tv. Is good enough.

Sometimes a quite traditional but very enjoyable Beethoven 5 is just the ticket - like tonight - bravo.

The hall was ~full, probably due to the Beethoven. Very enjoyable concert and a wonderful ovation for the conductor.

The Fifth, conducted by Flash, was in the first part of the very first Prom I attended. That said, it was in no way the reason I attended. The second half comprised Varèse's Déserts and Ecuatorial conducted by Prausnitz: https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/evvgwh

You got good value for money in 1966. Two conductors and what looks like a 2 hour plus programme. I believe Michael Roll is still making records - fine pianist .
