In messages 140 - 142 BO claims that Gove has made some "important positive changes" but then wriggles out of saying what they are. So what are they, BO?

Long hours, endless targets, worried children: as Michael Gove shakes up our schools, John Harris hears why teachers are quitting in droves

40% of teachers leave inside their first 5 years.

As for the effect on children......

The only positive remarks ever made about Mr Gove's ideas (or lack of them) are based on repetitious propaganda. No education secretary has ever caused so much damage.

Well this is what you said
Well for one, he's tackling poor performance. Two, he's on the money concerning curriculum review.
                Evidence ?
                In what way precisely ?

Because when I mentioned the NPME you seemed to agree ?

SO maybe you could expand your ideas a little ?

I see no evidence of "important positive changes"
apart from maybe having a plan for music education that doesn't contain the word "improvisation" ?
Because as we know Jazz is all a pile of shite innit ;-) (and as for figured bass, don't get me started)

And the negative one's seem to be based on personal prejudice. One way or another, he doesn't get a fair hearing, does he?

                    Hummmm

                    Real research isn't "personal prejudice"
I know who I would trust and it's not mrG

But in all fairness, we will not know how much damage or improvement Gove is responsible for right away. We can only know that in the future. In that sense, Alpine's comment was prejudiced, strictly speaking.

                        That's ok then isn't it?
                        As I have said before
without a real discussion of what education is for
then whatever he does will be able to be described as a "success" by those who think he is doing good

I guess getting rid of improvisation from music education is a start though ? :sarcastic grin:

NO, it's you that made the claim - it's up to you to substantiate it.

So, when you claimed that he had made some important positive changes, you were talking through your arse (again).

"Personal prejudice" based upon 40 years, 6 months and 18 days of teaching, which is 40 years, 6 months and 18 days longer than Mr G*** has done.
